Fifth Wednesday Journal Announces the winners of the Editor’s Prize for 2010

The prize, which includes a monetary award, is given each year for work published in FWJ in the previous year.

The Editor’s Prize in Fiction for 2010 is awarded for “Edin Soto and Her Twin Brother of the Falklands War” by Michael Zapata (FWJ, spring 2010).
J.C. Hallman served as judge. He is author of the short story collection, The Hospital for Bad Poets. His latest nonfiction book is In Utopia: Six Kinds of Eden and the Search for a Better Paradise.

The Editor’s Prize in Poetry for 2010 is awarded for “Julie’s Mouth” by Nancy Eimers (FWJ, spring 2010).
Allison Joseph served as judge. She is the author of six books of poems. She is editor and poetry editor of Crab Orchard Review, and is director of the MFA Program in Creative Writing at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

The Editor’s Prize in Photography for 2010 is awarded for “Music Waiting to Happen” by Amanda Gahler (FWJ, fall 2009). An Honorable Mention goes to “Smokey” by Thomas Krapausky (FWJ, fall 2009).
Lynn Swigart served as judge. He has exhibited widely and is known for his book Olson’s Gloucester, his photographic exploration of the setting for much of Charles Olson’s poetry.
